Warehouse Sales Part 1: Annabelle/Marcelle & L'Oreal

Even more haulage?!

Actually this happened last month but I’m only getting around to writing about it now.

I don’t know where you readers are from, but I live in a city where several makeup companies have warehouse sales twice a year. These sales typically happen in the spring and fall.

I have the fortune to live in a great city where we have such a vibrant and eclectic culture and just a great atmosphere overall. However the thing I enjoy the most about my city happens to be the warehouse sales! ;)

Montréal is a city that many companies call home, headquarter and maintain their head offices and distribution centers for the rest of Canada. The warehouse sales that happen here are not just makeup, we have clothing, kitchen and shoe ones as well.

Some examples of the makeup warehouse sales that Montréal offers:
  •  Annabelle/Marcelle
  • L’Oreal
  •  Guerlain
  • Clarins

Typically I go to the Annabelle/Marcelle and the L’Oreal one twice a year and I have been for the past five years at least.

Marcelle and Annabelle are two great drugstore brands that we Canadians have enjoyed for years. I swear, their products are AMAZING!!!!! Their eyeshadows pretty pigmented, eyeliners very creamy and never tug on your eyes. The difference between these two brands? Annabelle is like the hip and wild younger sister of Marcelle who is more refined and classic. Marcelle also focuses on skincare products on top of cosmetics.  Both brands are free of prabens and do not test on animals.

I generally love the Marcelle skincare line. Their products are very gentle on your skin, perfect for people with sensitive skin. However, I find not all their products are hits. Some products from their skincare line do absolutely nothing for me and I actually find them a bit too gentle! LMAO
But that’s like all brands, not every items works for everyone the same way. But you get a lot of bang for your buck.

However at this sale I only picked up makeup remover and cleansing water. (I think I was very good at this sale!) I really love Marcelle’s cleansing water, it reminds of the Bioderma cleansing water but for a fraction of the price. It takes of all your makeup without any fuss. It doesn’t irritate my eyes which is a plus because I have really sensitive eyes (the one part of me that is really sensitive). I picked this up at the sale for $7 (I picked up two). Retail price: $14.95.

I also picked up the Annabelle eye makeup remover. I had been hearing so much about this online in the past year so when I say them on display for $5 each I snatched up three. (Retail price $9.95) Until that point I had been using the Marcelle “Gentle eye makeup remover” (which is a dupe for Lancôme’s Bi-Ficial makeup remover) which was nice but I wanted to try something different. What intrigued of this makeup remover was that a pump that came with it. It reminded me so much of the ones in the Sephora which you use to wipe of all the makeup you’ve been switching in the store! LOL

It cuts down on the mess and spillage that can happen on occasion. (Long story, I knocked over a brand new OPEN bottle of the Marcelle” Gentle eye makeup remover” all over my countertop in April. Practically the entire bottle was a lost cause…<.<)
Overall I think they’re nice but I don’t find them any different than the Marcelle Cleansing water. It feels very refreshing on your eyes.

The Annabelle/Marcelle sale is open to the public, no invitation needed.  All cosmetics are $2.50 each (no joke). Skincare items, prices vary.
The next warehouse is L’Oreal one. For this one you need an invitation to get in and I typically get them from my workplace. Before I knew that my workplace handed them out I used to beg my mom to ask her friends to give her one.

The L’Oreal warehouse sales are ok. I find they used to be better when I first started going to them five years ago. Five years ago I scored a Parisienne Perfume coffret by YSL for $42.50!!! I have never been able to find  anything as spectacular as that. As time passes you start to see repeats of certain things, so at this one I usually stock up on shampoo, conditioner and other hair care products.

This year I got two shampoos and conditioners, some hair straightening /detangler  product, a Garnier body cream for my mom, two Lancôme La Laque Fever lip glosses in “Electric Pink” and” Iridescent” and an Essie nail polish in “Sure Shot”. I really like the Essie nail polish. This is actually my first Essie nail polish. I usually buy Wet N’ Wild, NYC, Revlon or Sally Hansen. It’s a really vibrant magenta.

I’ve had them on my toe nails for the past two weeks and so far no chipping (despite wearing sandals and being a klutz in general…) I give it a  5/5!!!

The lip glosses are nice though they are a bit sticky. I was a bit let down by the “Electric Pink” because when I swatched it, it looked so incredibly bright. I bought it because I don’t have any bright lipglosses like that. However, when I put it on my lips at home, it blended so much into my deeply pigmented lips and that it’s not as vibrant as I hoped…
Oh well, it’s still a pretty colour and I don’t own any Lancôme products so I’m very happy to add them into my collection.

Ebates 15% Cash Back Haul

Presents? For me? Wow you should have! As if I need an excuse to shop for makeup for myself!

Let’s take a peek shall we?

I bought three things during the Victoria Day weekend from Sephora.com. That weekend Ebates had a 15% cash, so I couldn’t resist. I haven’t bought of Sephora.com since late January.

Mid-February, Sephora.com started charging extra duty to Canadians on top of the high price we already pay. I was not very happy and haven’t bought anything online since. It’s a real shame because you get some many nice perks from shopping online such as, a number of promos and samples to choose from. (My local Sephora doesn’t know the meaning of the word “samples”…)
I only started shopping online last October and it has unfortunately come to a screeching halt…

However, with this special Ebates cash back special of 15%, I couldn’t resist.  I still had my VIB 10% code so I used that as promo code and saved even more.

The first thing I bought was:

Yes, I know I said I don’t really like the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks, but this is one that I have been eyeing for awhile. My local Sephora doesn’t even have this one in stock so I quickly ordered it. I think this will be the last YSL Rouge Volupte that I buy. The rest of the colours, I already have a similar shade in my collection. However this shade, I have NOTHING like it!

I got it in the colour “Fuchsia in Rage”. It looks a lot like the Pantone Colour of the Year "Radiant Orchid". It’s very vibrant purplish colour. A little bold and scary for day ware but perfect for night. I still haven’t worn in out yet. It’s very creamy like all Rouge Volupte Shines but I find that this one doesn’t move around on my lips as much as the other two I have. Weird. I’m going to have to test out the other two again. However, for the moment I am happy with the three I have.

They look so perfect in my lipstick holder. *sigh*

The next thing I got:

Dipbrow in Dark Brown

After hearing all the hype, I had to try it out. I actually wanted to buy this during VIB Chic Week sale but my Sephora was all out of them except in Ebony. I tried Ebony and it looked too harsh on my brows.

Anyways, I ordered it and I have been loving it. I naturally have thick brows but I have a few sparse areas. This brow pomade is perfect for cleaning and filling them out. Believe the hype!

Finally I got one of the Buxom lipglosses in my namesake. I’m pretty sure all you beauty lovers heard that Buxom recently released 100 new lipglosses with different girls names. Turns out one of the names happened to be my name. When fate hits you like that, can you resist? Nope.

When I was younger, I had such a hard time finding things such as mirrors, bookmarks, combs etc. with my name on it. I used to whine to my mom how I’m going to change my name because I hate it.
I love it now and I’m even more pleased that I can now find things with my name on it! :D

It comes with the typical doe foot applicator.

The colour is a beautiful peachy beige nude. It’s a perfect nude for my deep pigmented lips. Many nudes make me look very scary, sick and dead! It's taken a lot of trial and error to find the perfect nudes for me. This one luckily was perfect for me. Couldn’t ask for a better nude from my namesake! ;) I really love Buxom's lipglosses. I seriously can't think of a more perfect gloss. Their packaging is sleek, they're non-sticky and they feel so light on your lips. Also you can't forget the nice tingling on your lips. Hope you can all find your namesakes in the Buxom glosses and they are flattering for your skintone.

And to complete my order I got a four samples instead of the usual three! (Can’t say no to extra samples!)

My samples consisted of:

  •  Marc Jacobs Daisy
  •   Desigual Sex
  •   Bvlgari Omnia Indian Garnet

Did any of you readers take advantage of the Ebates 15% cash back?
Well, that’s all for now everyone. See you soon!

Peace. Love and Beauty! xoxox <3
