Ummm...hi again?!
Technically this blog post was supposed to be right after I
hauled for the Sephora Chic Week Sale which happened the first week of April. *facepalm*
I procrastinated, got sick, had
a bunch of job interviews which went nowhere. I felt kind of depressed and well
it just didn’t happen.
I’m sorry. :(
But today I decided to get my lazy butt into gear and upload
this haul for all of you to see.
First of all what is Chic Week? (Though I’m pretty sure you
makeup enthusiasts know!) Sephora has these sales twice a year in April and
November. The April sale is called Chic Week and members of their program
Beauty Insiders get to save 15% on everything in the store. That’s right EVERYTHING!
*pops open the champagne* However the one in November is better as BIs get to save 20%!!!!

Now because I’ve had these items for almost two months, I
can give a mini review to accompany my new pretties! ♥♥♥♥
So without further adieu, here is my haul!
To start off, I’m only a VIB so I couldn’t hit the stores
along with the Rouges (who got to start the sale 5 days earlier).
This is what I got from the sale:
- Guerlain Météorites Perles in Teint Dore 03 (Old Formula)
- NARS Blush in Desire
- NARS Blush in Mata Hari
- YSL Rouge Volupté in Beige Ultimate
- YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in Fuchsia in Excess
- YSL Le Teint Touche Éclait in B60
t First off, I’m so happy that my Sephora still had the old Météorites.
(I keep hearing that the new ones are just not as good.) So I was ecstatic that
I was able to snag one up. I had been craving the Météorites ever since I was
enabled by several makeup forums that I frequent.
How pretty is that tin?! |

I don’t have the Guerlain Météorites brush, so I just use
any powder brush that I have and the results are great. It’s more of a
finishing powder to complete your makeup look. The glow these little babies
give you. It’s almost like you are glowing within. I absolutely love them!
Next I got a pair of NARS blushes. I had been ogling these
blushes for awhile but I managed to resist until the sale.
From left to right: Mata Hari, Desire |
Mata Hari
gives a beautiful muted rosy glow to my NC42 complexions. Desire is more of blush that is in your face. It’s a glorious hot
pink. As with most NARS blushes, these are beautifully pigmented and all you
need is the slightest tap of your brush in them and you’re good to go. The colours are buildable, so it's
best to start of slowly
and then add more colour if needed. It’s harder to mute them then it is to go
bolder. Mati Hara has become one of
my favorite everyday blushes.
As I mentioned in my introductory post, I have a thing for
lip products. The YSL lipsticks have to be the eye candy of the lipstick world.
Their packaging is to die for. I have never seen a more beautiful lipstick
container in my life. I heard all these wonderful things about them and decided
to add them to my shopping list. I’m usually an L’Oreal or MAC girl when it
comes to my lipsticks.
Beige Ultimate & Fushcia in Excess |
The lipstick formulation is a little "eehhh". (Please don’t
hurt me!) I find that they are a bit too creamy and soft for my liking. I like
lipsticks that have wicked pigmentation but also stay put on my lips. I don’t
want to keep re-applying them ever so often. I also kept noticing that they
were bleeding around the edge of my lips after a matter of minutes. Disappointing.
However, I do think they are beautiful, they have a nice colour selection and I
think I will continue to buy a few more just because of the packaging!

Finally I also picked up the YSL Le Teint Touche Éclait in B60. I got a sample of this a few months
ago when I was a Sephora. I had tried out the Foundation IQ tool and this
foundation had been one of my results. When I tried it out at home, I first noticed
the smell of the foundation. It smelt like watermelon to me. (People who have
tried it, does it smell like that to you guys as well?) Anyways, I love
watermelon so I thought it was a pleasant scent.
Shade B60 |
Then I put it on my skin. It applied so flawlessly and
happened to be a perfect match for my NC42 skintone! This foundation is perfect
for summer. It gives you the most perfect dewy, glowing skin. It only has SPF
19, so that’s a bit of a bummer, but it’s better than none at all. (I’m looking
at you MAC Pro Longwear foundation!)
I haven’t been using this foundation as much as I have been
using my other products, but now that the warm weather is finally here I will
be using this pretty seriously during the warm summer months.
I also got a free cosmetic bag for the first day of the VIB
sale. I'm going to be storing some of my samples in there.
And that's my Chic Week Haul/Reviews! Hope you enjoyed them!
