Let Me Introduce Myself

Hello Makeup Lovers!

This will be the start of my new and very first blog. I'm so excited that I finally took the plunge and decided to start one.

Let me start by introducing myself:

I'm a 20-something living in Montreal, Canada who happens to be obsessed with makeup. I've always had this fascination with makeup since I was a little girl. My fondest memories comprise of sneaking into my mom's room while she was not at home to play around with her lipstick and perfumes.

My mom is real minimalist (1 lipstick, 1 eyeliner and 1 foundation). However, she loves perfumes and I guess perfumes are her vice!

Me on the other hand, I don't discriminate! I love all areas of makeup equally.
(Though I have a strong preference for lippies).

How did I get into makeup? I’ve always had this strong attraction towards anything colourful. When I was young I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. However sadly, I can’t draw to save my life.

Then when I was four, I got a play makeup kit from my mom’s friend. I was in LOVE!!!!
It had lipsticks, eyeshadows, and blushes!!!! HEAVEN!!!!!

Also during my birthdays, I was usually given nail polish by my parents. So let’s say my love started from there. However, I played the violin (and still do!) so my nails have to be clipped really short. No french manicures for me. I’ve tried fake nails once and I hated them. So even though I have a decent size nail polish collection I don’t really wear nail polish unless it’s summer.

On terms of other makeup, I got my first eyeliner and lipstick when I was 13 from my mom. She thought that since I’m now a teenager, I should now enjoy “big girl” makeup! I was thrilled! From that point onwards it slowly escaladed. When I was 14 a few weeks before I started grade 9, I headed over to a Zellers (remember those???) and purchased practically the entire section of CoverGirl eyeshadows. I had never seen so many colours in my life! And thus began the importance of makeup in my life.

I decided to embark on this blog after thinking it over for several months. As much as I love makeup, I was never that skilled at application. I had my daily routine. Cleanser, exfoliate (once a week), moisturize, black eyeliner (lining my waterline and tightlining), mascara, concealer for blemishes, lip balm and lipgloss or a lipstick. That was the entirety of my daily routine. If I was going out I would add some blush and some eyeshadow. Seriously, I had all this makeup at home and only used a 5% of it!!

Then in December 2012, I graduated from university. Bachelors in hand, I ventured out to find a “real job”. Reality sucks and to this date I am still looking for my first “real job”. Thank God, I still have my part-time job so at least I’m doing something. (ANYWAYS…)
With more time on my hand (for the first time in years) I decided to pass time on YouTube and stumbled upon the magical land of makeup tutorials, blogs and hauls.
I was hooked. So I wasted several hours a day; a few times a week practicing my makeup skills, watching and reading makeup reviews. After a few months, I think my makeup skill improved significantly. And my collection has grown!

Last week when I was out with friends, they really pushed me to start my own makeup blog. They stated since I am one of the most knowledgeable of the bunch, it's only natural to start one and educate others like themselves! HAHAHA!

The purpose of this blog will be to review my existing and future makeup purchases, give my honest opinion and perhaps showcase some of my makeup skills (which I don't think are that impressive...).

So till next time and I do hope you'll continue to check my blog out from time to time!
